Badge in Commemoration of the Construction of the Kurpsayskaya Hydroelectric Station, Kirghiz SSR, early 1980s.
In brass and enamel; the pendant measures 25.4 mm wide. The inscription in Russian reads "Kurpsayskaya GES, the Shock Construction Project of the 10th Five-Year Plan". The colors of the suspension represent national flag of Soviet Kirghizstan. In excellent condition.
The Kurpsayskaya hydroelectric dam on the Narym River in Tian Shan mountains of Kyrgyzstan was completed in the early 1980s. The medal (or rather, honorary badge according to the Soviet hierarchy of awards) was apparently issued to veteran workers as well as party leadership supervising the project.
