Order of Mother-Heroine, Variation 1, #32866, circa late 1940s - early 1950s issue.

The star is in solid 14 K gold, superimposed on a five-sided sunburst plate in solid silver; the suspension device is in gilded silver and enamel. Pendant measures 31.1 mm in height (incl. the eyelet), 27.6 mm in width; weighs 12.3 g not including the suspension and connecting link; total weight with suspension is 16.3 g. Features hand-engraved serial number and stamped mint mark (as opposed to the raised mint mark on the later versions of the order.) The distance between the centers of the lower rivets is 8.8 mm; the mint mark is in medium-sized font, about 7.5 mm wide. The latter two features are characteristic of specimens in approximate serial number range from 30000 - 39000.

The order is in excellent condition. The enamel on the suspension device is flawless, free of even the microscopic contact marks that could be found with a 10x loupe. The gold star is extremely well-preserved: it has only a couple of tiny dings and scuffs that are barely noticeable to the naked eye, while its ridges and apex are exceptionally crisp and show practically none of the usual wear. There are no edge knocks or bumps. Nice, even patina to the silver starburst and reverse, while the gilt finish on the suspension is still clearly visible. The rivets holding the star are tight. The connecting link appears to be original; its ends are still joined with solder in the seamless manner typical of the Soviet mint. A very attractive early example of one of the highest Soviet decorations!
