M 1947 Waist Belt with Hangers for Navy Officer Dagger, 1947- 1955.
In black silk tape ribbon of 1" width, much narrower pattern than the 1950s and later issues. The heavy brass buckles feature so-called "angry lions" as opposed to the "kind" lions of the similar WW2 model. Snake clasp on front instead of the larger round buckle found on the 1950s and later waist belts. Fully extended, it will fit up to size 42" waist, but it can be easily adjusted to fit almost any smaller size.
The belt is in very good condition, completely sound and overall clean despite having some dust that may clean off. Both the black ribbon front and velvet backing show no tears, significant scuffs or worn areas. The brass buckles and fittings are fully functional and sound; although they show surface oxidation which is not too detractive. The details of the artwork are perfectly preserved and crisp, and some of the original gilt finish is still clearly visible in their recessed areas.
Perfect for display with an early post-war naval dagger that lacks a proper belt and hangers.
