Silver gilt, enamels. Measures 51.4 mm in height including the eyelet, 38.0 mm in width; weighs 34.6 g not including the suspension and connecting link. Sub-variation featuring both words of the mint mark stamped by a single stamp. The mint mark is approx. 9 mm wide, in straight lines and has a dash over the last character in the word "Monetnyi". Currently known serial number range for this version is 78491 - 134621 according to Mondvor.narod.ru. Based on published Soviet archival records, this particular piece was manufactured in 1948 at the Leningrad Mint.
In very fine to excellent condition. The enamel on the banner has only a single tiny surface flake at the top edge of the banner under the eyelet, otherwise perfect. The red star has two microscopic flakes at the tips of the horizontal arms, both of them invisible to the naked eye. The details of the artwork are free of visible dings. The original fire gilt finish is well preserved and bright showing only minimal wear to the hammer and sickle and the high points of the wreath. Nice even toning to silver on the reverse. Comes on original suspension device, an early post-war two-layer model in steel with integral catch of the pin. The old ribbon is very well preserved and clean. The silver connecting link appears to be original, and its ends are still joined with solder.
