Mongolia, Friendship Medal, #13372, circa late 1980s - early 90s issue.
Silver, enamels; 36.1 mm wide; weighs 27.9 g including the suspension. Extremely nice quality. Shows shaking hands, ribbon forming Mongolian national ornament, green leaves underneath, and Cyrillic writing "Nairamdal" at the top. Engraved umber to the reverse. Excellent, near mint condition, appears to have never been worn.
This medal is from the fourth and final batch of Niramdal Medals manufactured at the Soviet Mint in early 1981 and delivered to Mongolia during the same year. Judging by its high serial number and pristine appearance, it was probably awarded near the end of the communist rule in Mongolia. Nearly all of these were awarded to foreigners, primarily Soviet citizens, with only a handful bestowed upon Mongols.
