Gilded brass, enamels; medallion is 25.3 mm wide. The suspension device shows a shield with the colors of the national flag of Latvia while it was a part of the USSR. Traditional sword on the obverse of the medallion, and the dates "1919-1979". In excellent condition.

Curiously, 1919 is the year of the formation of the national police department when Latvia became an independent state, not the year when it was annexed by the Soviet Union. Awarded only to officers of the Latvian police. Excellent condition.
