"Loves Me or Loves Me Not?" (Girl Deviating on a Flower), Kiev Experimental Ceramic Factory, 1976-1991.

Measures 7" (19 cm) tall. A pretty maiden in traditional dress checking her fortune by a time-tested method known to every Russian or Ukrainian girl: by plucking petals off а flower (typically chamomile but substitutes would work too) and reciting verses "(He) Loves Me, Loves Me Not, Will Spit, Will Kiss, Will Tell to Go to Devil, Will Take as Bride". The verse that goes with the last petal will tell her fortune.

Lovely piece in excellent condition, with vibrant colors and free on noticeable wear. This piece by the Kiev Factory is far less common than another statuette on the same subject by the Polonnoe Porcelain Factory.

The trademark is #298 in Volume One of "Marks on Soviet Porcelain, Faience, and Majolica, 1917-1991". There are also some additional markings on the bottom, one of them apparently a retail price. There are also some scuffs at the bottom possibly to erase the logo of a retailer.
