Famous Soviet Ballerina Maya Plisetskaya, cast-iron figurine by the Kasli Iron Works, 1984.

Stands 19.5" tall. The bottom shows the Kasli trademark with a 1984 date of manufacture. It was manufactured by the Kasli factory as a replica of an original by artist Elena Yanson- Manizer (1880-1971), who particularly specialized in sculptural depictions of dance. This elegant statuette is considered relatively rare, with a rarity rating of R1 according to the reference guide "Cast Iron Art" by Alexander Zak.

The ballerina is depicted in a graceful position, with her chin raised and and the fabric of her tutu floating almost ethereally behind her. The details of her curls and facial expression show exquisite craftsmanship.

This statuette certainly captures the weightlessness and poise with which the nationally revered Plisetskaya executed her ballets, serving as a testament to the extent of her appreciation throughout the Soviet Union and the world.

This piece is in overall excellent condition.
