Leningrad Order of the Red Banner Air Force Engineers Academy (LKVVIA) graduate badge, Type 1, 1950-1954.

Silver gilt, enamels, 46.7 x 26.8 mm. Four-piece construction, Type 1 badge featuring wire attachment of the star.

Excellent condition. The red enamel has a couple of microscopic scratches and contact marks, but they are completely unnoticeable to the naked eye. There is no flaking or other significant wear of any kind. Details of the state emblem are extremely well preserved and crisp. The screw post if full length, nearly 10.5 mm. Comes with original early type screw plate in silver.

The academy was created in 1941 on the base of an Air Force school for advanced technical training. In 1945 it was awarded with an Order of the Red Banner and acquired its LKVVIA abbreviation which stands for Leningradskaya Krasnoznamyonnaya Voenno-Vozdushnaya Inzhenernaya Akademiya. In 1955, the academy received the honorific title of "Mozhaiskogo", so all the graduation badges issued after that year had the plaque which reflected that. The badges of either type are among the more scarce graduation "rhombs".
