Tank Driver Proficiency Badge, 2nd class, 1954-1961.
Brass, enamels; 25.0 x 64.0 mm. In very fine condition, better than the average for this relatively uncommon badge. The enamel is well preserved having only surface rubbing and scuffs, no chips, visible flaking, or cracks. The nickel plating on the wings is almost pristine; details of the wreath and tanks are perfect and crisp. The fire gilt on the wreath and reverse is well preserved and bright. The screw post is original but has been shortened to about 7.5 mm for convenience, as was customary. It was also strengthened or repaired with some lead solder applied to its base. Comes with original screw plate marked "Pobeda Factory, Moscow".
/"Avers 8", p. 452, fig. 2121/.
