Commemorative badge for the 50th Anniversary of the MVD Internal Army Unit #6608, City of Solikamsk,1991.

Aluminum, paint, lacquer; medallion measures 52.4 mm tall (incl. eyelet), 43.0 mm wide. Features portrait of Feliks Dzerzhinsky in the center. In excellent condition.

The designation Unit #6608 stands for 31st MVD Internal Army Convoy Brigade, earlier known as 7th MVD Convoy Regiment. Based in the Siberian city of Solikamsk, this unit was tasked with providing regular prison guards and prisoner transportation details, as well as training special search and apprehension teams. The badge was apparently awarded to one of the officers, career NCOs or VIP veterans of the unit on occasion of its anniversary. This is one of the last law enforcement badges of the Soviet period.
