Honorary Certificate issued on 17 August 1939 to V T Krivosheeva, the wife of a Lieutenant of the 33rd NKVD Naval Detachment, Leningrad District.
Large format, measures 11" x 15 ½ ", printed on heavy paper. Very nice artwork was specifically designed for NKVD: the bottom portion shows an NKVD Internal Army trooper guarding various industrial installations and an NKVD Border Guard diligently patrolling near a border marker. In the upper part is a group of Border Guards in action, shooting at invisible "enemies of the people".
The certificate was awarded to Krivosheeva for being a member of the volleyball team that won first prize at the summer 1939 regional sports competition of the NKVD of Leningrad District. The certificate states that she was given a monetary reward. Hand-signed by the Deputy Commander of the NKVD Border Guards of Leningrad Region, Brigade Commander Khomenko and the Chief Referee [of the Sports Contest] Commander of the 2nd Department of the Headquarters, Col. Balashov.
In very good condition. The document has been stored folded in two. There is moderate wear and "dog ears" along the edges and a single small tear at the bottom. The certificate is nevertheless very sound overall. The gold and red colors are still very bright and vivid; the details of the artwork are intact.
