"Harvest", Collective Farmer / Peasant Girl pencil holder, Tselinograd Porcelain Factory, circa 1962-1972.
A later, simplified rendition of a famous and quite uncommon 1950s Lomonosov porcelain figurine.
6 1/4" x 3 3/4" x 3 ¼" (9.5 x 8.5 x 15.5cm), a young woman stands at the edge of a wheat field. The space immediately behind her is intended to hold pens and pencils. Excellent condition.
This is a different factory's version of one of the more difficult to locate Lomonosov figurines. Like the original, it embodies many of the concepts of Socialist Realism - the approved Soviet school of artistic expression from the 1930s to the end of the USSR.
/Trademark is 754 in Volume One of "Marks on Soviet Porcelain, Faience, and Majolica, 1917-1991" /
