Sergei Yesenin,1895 - 1925, large bust in Silumin alloy, circa 1970s-80s.
5 7/8" tall. Excellent likeness based on photographs of one of the most famous Russian lyrical poets of the first quarter of the Twentieth Century. If you are not familiar with him (besides being a highly regarded poet, he was married five times - once to the eccentric dancer Isadora Duncan), you may find it interesting to know that before he committed suicide in the Angleterre Hotel in St. Petersburg in 1925, he was rumored to have written his final poem with his own blood!
The sculptor has captured an excellent likeness of him as he looked before alcohol took its toll. Interestingly, however, some of his final poems have been judged to be among his very best!
