Society of the Cultural Linking of Town and Village, membership badge, mid to late 1920s.
In silver plated brass and paint; 32.8 x 25.9 mm.
In fair to good condition. The paint has been expertly restored. The details are very well defined. The silver plating which appears to be original to the badge shows only light wear to high points. The pin back attachment is original but appears to have been reattached, as evident from the scratch marks around its base.
"Cultural Bridging" was a slogan coined by Bukharin defining the policy of gradualism in building socialism [brainwashing the farmers] in the country. It had been used by Stalin as a weapon against more extreme Trotsky who wanted to collectivize. Later, when Trotsky was out, the policy shifted towards more radical approach, resulting in the new term "sponsorship".
