Russian State Employee cabinet photo with inscription to a friend, dated New Year's Day 1902.
Approximately 4" in width, overall height is approx. 6", the height of the image is 5 ½ ". Wears his departmental uniform with a diamond-shaped University graduation badge and, below it, a badge for membership in the society for Guardianship of People's Sobriety on the right side of the tunic.
The verso boasts a large elaborate ornamental lithographic motif with lettering "Photo studio of U. Ritters, Moscow, Petrovka, Kuznetskiy Pereulok, house of Abatskiy. Negatives are preserved". Handwritten on the back in black ink, "To my friend and buddy in memory of the time spent together. B. Kukharenko, January 1, 1902". The bottom of the cardboard backing carries the name and address of the owner of the photo studio: "U. Ritters, Moscow, Petrovka, Kuznetskiy Pereulok".
Good condition. There is scuffing in the center of the image.
