Badge of a Junior Sports Champion of the City of Pärnu, Estonian SSR, 1955.

Silver, enamels; measures 24.7 mm in height x 21.1 mm in width; weighs 4.0 g without the screw plate. The abbreviation ÕNKN at the top stands for Õppiva Noorsoo Kehakultuuriorganisatsioon Nõukogu, Soviet Estonian Council of Physical Culture Organizations of School Youth.

The quality of the badge and its enamel in particular is nothing short of extraordinary. It is interesting to see lettering on the reverse, indicating that this piece was made from another badge that did not pass quality control at the factory and was scrapped - a common practice for Soviet badge manufacturers at

In excellent condition. The enamel is perfect; the details of the artwork are pristine. The original brass screw post is full length, nearly 7 mm measured from its base, and includes an unmarked screw plate which is of the period and probably original to the badge.

A beautiful and very scarce early piece!

Please note, the penny in our photo is for size reference.
