Japan, Order of the Rising Sun, 7th class, aka Green Paulownia Leaves Medal.
Silver and enamels, 33.7 mm in height (incl. eyelet), 31.4 mm in width. A paulownia crest, with the same 3+5+3 flowers as in the 6th class but larger than the ones used in higher classes of the order, is the entire badge. It is also veined on the obverse, and inscribed on the reverse with characters meaning "order of merit decoration". The crest is suspended from a jump ring connected to the suspension ribbon. The ribbon is in champagne-colored moiré silk with 5mm-wide red edges, less common than the regulation white with red edges.

The badge is in very fine condition. The only wear somewhat visible to the naked eye are a few tiny chips and flakes to the green enamel near the edge. The ribbon shows mild wear and appears to be original; the metal hook and clasp on the ribbon are free of oxidation, and are affixed tightly.
The Order of the Rising Sun, the first national decoration of Japan, was established by the Council of State Decree of April 10, 1875. It can
be bestowed on the military and civilians, Japanese and foreign, as a general order or merit.
