Special-Issue Government Postcard Commemorating the Last Constitution of the USSR, 1977.

The size is continental standard 6" x 4", postally unused, published by the Ministry of Communications of the USSR, circulation unknown. The obverse features an elaborate uncommonly formatted special edition government postal stamp with the State Emblem of the USSR. The artwork in the left pane of the obverse depicts a part of the Grand Kremlin Palace. The lettering above and below it reads "Constitution (main law) of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, adopted at the extraordinary seventh session of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR in October 1977." The verso is blank. This was the last version of the USSR constitution which replaced Stalin's 1936 version. This last version was dubbed "Constitution of Mature Socialism." The moniker was meant in its literal sense but quickly acquired a very ironic overtone.
