Postcard with Lenin's bust & facsimile signature, 1986.
In folder format measuring standard 5 ½" x 3 ½", unmailable without a cover. Published by the PLAKAT ("Poster") Publishing House, Moscow, circulation 2,000,000. The obverse features the image of Lenin's bust by sculptor Nikolai Tomskiy - President of the Academy of Arts of the USSR, author of many a monument to Lenin. However, originality of this design stands out: Lenin's head seems to have morphed out from its gray faceless flat background, and he does not look very happy. Whatever Tomskiy meant to express by that is too late to ask: born in 1900, Tomskiy died at the ripe age of 83.
