The obverse features the image of a monument to Lenin against the background of the Smolny, the Bolsheviks' Petrograd HQ during the October revolution and the Monument to the Conquerors of Space in Moscow. The name of the artist, N. Chertenkov, is printed in the upper left-hand corner on the verso. The handwritten inscription in Estonian language is rather enigmatic. It is addressed to "dear relatives", congratulates them with the 46th anniversary of the October Revolution, then wishes them "good luck to everyone tomorrow" and finishes with "I want to be there." Knowing how little love was lost between Estonians and the Soviet regime, makes you think, doesn't it?
In excellent condition, minimal storage wear and mild age-toning to the verso. The ink of the inscription is vibrantly blue, crisp and perfectly legible.
