Strelnikov, is printed in the lower left-hand corner on the verso. The vertical line of text dividing the verso reads "For Carte Maximum." The carte maximum postal stamp repeats the artwork on the obverse and is canceled by a special First Day cancel stamp in red ink, dated 4 October 1977, the 20th anniversary of the orbital flight of the first Soviet artificial satellite Sputnik.
