Rodionov, is printed at the bottom on the verso. The short essay on the verso describes the events that inspired this painting - the sinking of the Nazi antiaircraft cruiser Niobe by Soviet ground attack bombers of the 12th Guards Bomber Regiment. The event took place on 16 July 1944 in the Finnish port of Kotka.
