The watch was manufactured by the Vostok Chistopol Watch Factory (Tatar Autonomous SSR, now Republic of Tatarstan).
In very good condition in terms of appearance, showing minor scuffs and scratches to the case and bezel. The paint in the recessed dots on the bezel, usually half of them red and half blue, is missing, probably due to prolonged exposure to elements hostile to paint. Seawater would be the prime suspect. Mechanically, the watch is in working condition. Our 24-hour test showed +35 minutes. The marking on the inside of the caseback says that the watch was professionally serviced on 8 March 2020, but perhaps another visit to a watch repairman can fix the time deviation.
The Amfibia series was a variant of the Komandirskiye ("Commander's") series, ordered by the USSR Ministry of Defense in the mid-1960s as a diver's watch. For a long time, the entire Komandirskiye series watches were not available in general retail stores.
Funding by the Ministry of Defense ended at the very end of the 1980s but the Vostok Chistopol Watch Factory continued manufacturing them even after the collapse of the Soviet Union. The brand survived the factory's bankruptcy and reorganization.
