Gold, enamels; measures 48.3 mm in height incl. eyelet, 44.1 mm in width; weighs 15.9 g not including the connecting loop and ribbon; overall weight with the loop is 16.7 g. Maker mark "Eduard" to the reverse lower arm, struck very lightly and in very small font, and therefore almost illegible. The reverse upper arm shows letters ВД ("VD", the initials of Vera Dietvald, the widow and heiress of the original owner of the firm), There is a gold hallmark "56" to the eyelet with a Kokoshnik facing right. Three of the embellishments between the arms have matching Kokoshnik assay inspection hallmarks. It is interesting to see that the hallmarks had been applied before the final touches of artwork were chiseled by engraver's hand in the center portion of the scrolls. The enamel is of lighter shade of red, typical of the Eduard pieces of the period. The artwork of the center medallion is very detailed in standard Eduard manner.

The badge comes on the original suspension loop in gold showing a Kokoshnik hallmark matching those on the badge itself. Also included is an original period neck ribbon in silk moiré measuring approx. 4.4 cm wide and 24 cm (nearly 10 inches) in length.

The order is in outstanding, excellent condition. All parts of the badge are original to it and have not been repaired or reattached. The enamel is extremely well preserved and exhibits a beautiful luster throughout; it has only minor contact marks that are almost unnoticeable to the naked eye, no chips, flaking or any other significant wear. The artwork on both sides of the center medallion is literally pristine. The ribbon is perfectly clean and sound, showing practically no wear.
