Photo of a group of aviators in front of a wooden building, circa late 1930s.

Measures 4" x 3 ¼", printed on textured glossy photo paper. In the last row, the second from the right man is holding a pilot's map case with clear plastic cover. The gentleman in the leather overcoat is holding a book, entitled ХЛЕБ ("Bread"), written by Alexey N. Tolstoy. This novel was first published in 1937 in The Young Guard magazine, and was first published as a separate book in 1938. It was a novel about the battle for Tsaritsyn (future Stalingrad) in the Russian Civil War, greatly exaggerating the role of Stalin in it.

In excellent condition

In excellent condition. The faint diagonal indentations at the corners, left by the holding slits in a photo album, are barely noticeable. The paper for this photo was carefully torn from a larger sheet, so its top and right edges show minimal wear. The image is in very sharp contrast, providing an excellent opportunity to study the fine details. The verso is unmarked and mostly clean, showing just a couple of foxing spots.

Please note that the penny in our photo is for size reference.
