Nikolai Ostrovsky (Николай Алексеевич Островский, 1904 - 1936) was a Soviet Socialist Realism writer and a true zealot of Bolshevism. His devotion to the Communist ideology and his two novels, How Steel Was Tempered and Born By the Storm, earned him a very special place in the pantheon of Soviet literature, and an Order of Lenin in 1935.
Alexander Murzin (1914 - 2010) was a famous Soviet and Russian sculptor, graduate of the faculty of sculpture of the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, member of the Artists' Union of the USSR. Author of a multitude of small form sculptures in Silumin, cast iron, bronze, and aluminum, including portrait sculptures of Lenin and Dzerzhinsky (a privilege granted to a few, and not lightly), Soviet military leaders, Leo Tolstoy, Peter the Great, etc., etc.
