Flag of the USSR Minister of Defense, circa 1970s-80s.
In synthetic silk - the kind used for naval reviews and other ceremonial occasions. Measures 68" long x 43" wide (approx. 5¾ ' x 3 ½'), makes it suitable for a destroyer. This flag is similar to the flag of the Supreme Commander of the Soviet Navy but with the two blue stripes at the bottom instead of one. The hoist sleeve is in canvas, unmarked.
In outstanding, excellent condition, showing only storage age. There are no tears, holes, or stains of any kind, just a couple of tiny smudges near the hoist sleeve that can be found only at close inspection. The colors are strong

The very sight of this flag probably caused almost all Soviet ship commanders to panic if they were not already expecting a visit from the Minister of Defense. At all other times, it was stored in a special safe on the ship just to make sure it would be available at the moment's notice.
This very uncommon Soviet flag can make an impressive background for a Soviet collection. It is not too big and will fit into a tight space,
yet large enough to attract attention. Great Cold War collectible and conversation piece!
