The breast star. Silver gilt, enamels, 73.5 mm in diameter, weighs 86.0 g. The reverse is stamped with the characters meaning "order of merit decoration". Very fine condition. The upper ray of the 9 o'clock arm of the star is missing half of its white enamel; the white enamel of the 10-11 o'clock arm shows multiple hairlines. The wear is not too intrusive to the eye, and the rest of the star is wear-free.
The sash badge. Silver gilt, enamels, 70.1 mm in height (incl. eyelet), 64.0 mm in width, weighs 63.4 g including the jump ring. The reverse is stamped with

The sash badge. Silver gilt, enamels, 70.1 mm in height (incl. eyelet), 64.0 mm in width, weighs 63.4 g including the jump ring. The reverse is stamped with the characters meaning "order of merit decoration," and is mint marked "M" on the 6 o'clock arm of the cross. The jump rings is suspended from a carabiner on the underside of the sash rosette. Excellent condition, no significant wear visible to the naked eye.
The sash is in champagne-colored moiré silk with gold stripes near the edges. The rosette is oval, approx. 100 mm x 77 mm. Very fine condition, showing minimal soiling and a bit of frayed edges right above the rosette. The eye of the hook-and-eye clasp used to close the sash is unattached to the sash but is present and can be sown into its original position rather easily, if desired. The hook is in place, and firmly attached.
The Order of the Sacred Treasure was founded by Emperor Meiji's edict of 1 January 1888 to be bestowed upon persons who had rendered
distinguished service to the state. It was awarded to the military and civilians, and in May 1919 was extended to women.
