Portraits of Lenin and Stalin, Hand-Embroidered on Canvas in Celebration of the 21st Anniversary of October Revolution, 1938.
Large size, measuring approx. 18" x 25", embroidery and application on canvas. The artwork is somewhat crudely made by hand, and is clearly one-of-a-kind.
In very good to excellent condition, showing just a few minor stains to the canvas and two small holes to the fabric of the left arm of the red star. Not very intrusive to the eye, and adding a nice ambience of age and authenticity. The verso shows traces of клейстер, a weak glue made by boiling starch, widely used in the austere Soviet Union all the way through the 1960s.

This embroidery will make a unique and original centerpiece of a display of Stalin-era Soviet memorabilia.
