Then in the rank of sr. lieutenant, Kapralov was awarded with the Order of the Red Star in July 1943. Over a week of continuous combat, the artillery battery he commanded repelled a tank attack destroying two enemy tanks and two automobiles, an antitank gun, and suppressed a mortar battery. Following that, his battery hit and destroyed eight more enemy tanks.

The order of the Patriotic War 1 class was awarded for outstanding success in organizing and performing reconnaissance in his regiment in December 1943, locating the positions of enemy forces and personally killing twelve, and capturing six enemy troops.

His Order of the Red Banner was awarded in July 1944 while serving in the 193rd Artillery Regiment. He identified the location of the enemy artillery and pillboxes which allowed the regiment to destroy them. When the regiment commander was killed, Kapralov took his place and guided the continued offensive, destroying 200 troops, capturing three, and providing efficient artillery support to the attacking infantry.
