Single page 8" x 5 ½", front and verso. Bears the stationary stamp of the 78th Guards Rifle Regiment dated 21 May 1943. The ID was issued to captain Nikolai Astafyev certifying the fact of his active military service in the post of deputy commander and chief political officer of the 3rd Rifle Battalion of the 78th Guards Rifle Regiment of the 25th Guards Rifle Division. The ID was valid until 31 December 1943. The ID bears the seal of the 78th Rifle Regiment and is hand-signed by its commander and chief of staff.

In very good condition. The paper is rather low-quality and pulpy but thick enough to be still well preserved, in part with the help of tape repairs on the verso. The bottom edge shows mild fraying, not reaching the signatures or seals.
