The Allied Control Commission was created in November 1943 in response to the truce with, and then capitulation of, Italy. As more and more countries of the Axis capitulated, the Allied Control Commission expanded its operations accordingly to Romania, Finland, Bulgaria, Hungary, and Austria. In Romania, it functioned from August 1944 until September 1947 when the Peace Treaty with Romania was signed.
