"Out of deep concern for the future of our people, for our beloved homeland and for the continued existence of Germany, we German generals, together with many hundreds of thousands of soldiers and officers from the Russian military, are turning to you, our men and women, at the last hour."
"We follow your desperate efforts in the incredibly costly defensive battles, the superhuman work performance and the increasing privations with deepest sympathy."
"Our entire people are now completely immersed in the destructive battle: on all fronts, men from old men to boys are bleeding to death; at home, women and children are suffering from the increasing force of enemy attacks in the hardest work. Never before has a war brought such unspeakable misfortune to our Fatherland. The hour of collapse under the overwhelming superiority of the opposing opponents is drawing ever closer."
"Adolf Hitler led Germany into this situation."
"But our people must not perish! That's why this war must end immediately."
The leaflet is in good condition. The paper is a little brittle and moderately age-toned, there are a few small rips at the edges. Small pieces of paper are missing at the top and bottom edges. However, none of the wear reaches the document. Both the text and the photo are clear.
While in Soviet captivity, Paulus and some other German generals were compelled to work for the Soviets.
