In outstanding, excellent condition. Both the red and royal blue enamels are perfect. The details of the state emblem are likewise perfect and crisp. A good amount of the original gilt finish is still present in the recessed areas of the state emblem. The screw post is full length, nearly 12 mm, and includes an original Moscow Mint screw plate. Although this is not a rare badge, it is quite hard to find one in as nice a condition as the example offered here.
The badges of this type were issued during the 1961 - 1982 period to graduates of any of the Soviet "Highest Military Schools" (Vysshee Voennoe Uchilische, best translated as Intermediate Level Military Academy.)
