One-page document 9" x 9", front only. The document is a proposal of the Narkom (People's Commissar) of Foreign Affairs Georgiy Chicherin to align the official title of someone Bochkovskiy, the then RSFSR trade representative in the northern ports of Norway with the geography of his activities in order to separate trade relations with these ports from those with Norway as a whole due to their special status in relation to the young Soviet country.

In 1921, Yagoda held the post of a member of the Collegium of the People's Commissariat for Foreign Affairs in addition to his high-level positions in VChK and GPU. His resolution on the document is a directive to find a deputy representative for Bochkovskiy and adjust the operational mandate.
The infamy of Yagoda should not overshadow the fame of Grigoriy Chicherin (Георгий Васильевич Чичерин, 1872 - 1936), the author of this document. His signature is at the bottom of the typed text, in black ink. He was а renowned Soviet diplomat, the first People's Commissar for Foreign Affairs from 1918 to 1930, rising to this exalted post after playing a major role in negotiating the Brest-Litovsk Peace Treaty with Germany.
In good condition. The left margin features several hole puncher holes. The right-side edge is rather frayed and shows several rips, the wear affecting 3 lines of text. However, the ends of these lines are still present and can be uncurled and straightened out, if desired. None of the wear affects any of the handwritten resolutions or signatures.
Genrikh Yagoda (Генрих Григорьевич Ягода, 1891 - 1938) was a Russian revolutionary, Soviet statesman, one of the most infamous leaders of the Soviet State Security organizations (VChK, GPU, OGPU, NKVD), Narkom of Internal Affairs of the USSR (1934 - 1936), whose insufficient zeal, in Stalin's eyes, in revealing and exterminating "enemies of the people" ended with him facing a firing squad on March 15, 1938 as "a spy", "traitor" and "enemy of the people". Yagoda was replaced by another of Stalin's creatures, Nikolai Ezhov, who lasted in this position only until 1940. Sic transit gloria mundi!
