Russian text, in pre-1917 reform orthography with obsolete letters "ъ", "ѣ" and "i". The booklet's goal is to familiarize the reader with Rembrandt as a person, and to provide information about some of his most famous paintings. The list of his best masterpieces, accurate as of the year of this publication, is provided at the end of the booklet and includes the name of the museum each of them is exhibited in. The back cover features a handwritten inscription in pencil which looks like an inventory tag of a second-hand bookseller, dated 2003.

In fair condition. The cover is completely separated from the textblock. The latter, consisting of 3 signatures, is still holding together although partial separations of each individual signature are evident. The text is bright and clear throughout, the paper is quite supple, showing just minute fraying at the edges and corners, and mild age toning along the edges. The cover shows moderate age toning and minor wear to the spine, edges and corners.

As stated on the inside of the back cover, the Flying Encyclopedia series focused on popularization of art, starting with the classics of European painting, working on a segment on Russian artists, and planning to expand into history, literature, medicine, and a number of other spheres of culture, art, and science.
