"Finka" Cap in black leather and lamb fur, c.
late 1940s - 1950s.

Black leather shell with good quality treated black lamb's fur. Quilted black cotton lining. Flaps are held in place with hook & eye arrangement. The hat badge is a 1940s officer model in brass-plated steel and enamel. The design of this hat was copied from the Finns after the first Russo-Finnish War of 1939 / 1940. Popular style, particularly with NKVD / MVD personnel. There is a maker's stamp to the liner, illegible due to wear. Approximate size 57 (US 7 1/8 / Medium).

Very good to excellent condition. Lining shows only modest wear and minor amount of soiling to the liner. There are three tiny "bald" spots on the edges of the "fur" that are not noticeable and do not detract from the hat's "look." Colored in with a water-based marker, they would become invisible.
