Lenin's Waist Bust in Glazed Porcelain by the Lomonosov Porcelain Factory (ЛФЗ / LFZ) in Leningrad, circa 1950s, early version, by the renowned sculptors Bogolyubov and Ingal.
Measures 7" tall, plinth size 3 ¼" x 2 ½", ideal for desktop or bookcase display. Undoubtedly one of the most iconic busts ever produced of Lenin, certainly the most famous ever done in fine porcelain. Classic image, wearing a thoughtful look and his trademark 3-piece suit. This porcelain bust is much less common than the metal ones. The last names of the sculptors are pressed into the porcelain mass on the reverse, barely visible under the glaze.
The bottom of the plinth shows the trademark of the Lomonosov Porcelain Factory (formerly Imperial Porcelain Factory) located in St.

The bottom of the plinth shows the trademark of the Lomonosov Porcelain Factory (formerly Imperial Porcelain Factory) located in St. Petersburg (fig. # 487 in Volume One of Marks on Soviet Porcelain, Faience, and Majolica, 1917-1991 by Nasonova et al). This particular graphic was in use in the 1950s. Red color of the QC mark signifies top quality.
In excellent condition. A few microscopic spots apparently acquired during the glazing process are far between and too tiny to be detractive.
Those who have seen actual photographs of Lenin can appreciate the propagandistic requirement for artists to "noble-ize" his image. Those who have NOT seen his actual photos but are looking at this bust, can see a well-balanced calm shrewd thinker who is poised deep in thought, simultaneously planning the happy future for the workers and peasants of the world and sternly warning all their enemies of their unavoidable defeat.
For those who already have a similar Stalin's bust by Bogolyubov and Ingal, it is interesting to note that the bust of Stalin, designed to be companion piece to this, has the same proportions but is slightly taller, thereby allowing the Stalin bust to dominate when the two are displayed together!
Please note that the medal in our photo is for size reference only.
