First edition, vol. 5 of the 15-volume series, the publication timed with commemoration of the centennial anniversary of the Patriotic War of 1812. Russian text. Printed in pre-reform Russian orthography containing currently obsolete letters. A somewhat unusual detail can be found on the back cover where the title and volume number are embossed under the silhouette of a chariot. This volume (vol. 5) contains a compilation of historical material covering Russia's four different wars with Finland, two wars with Turkey and a large essay on the condition of the Russian army in the last years of the reign of Alexander I. All the material is illustrated with topographical maps of specific campaigns as well as reproductions from various paintings and drawings relevant to the topic.
In fair to good condition. The most apparent issues are separations at the hinges and the spine as well as of the two last sections of the textblock from the binding. We have minor staining of the cover and mild and even age toning of the internal pages. Overall, the book is still quite readable even in its present condition and can be relatively easily restored.
In any condition, this is a great reference material for anyone interested in the Russian military campaigns of the 18th - early 19th centuries.
