In excellent, outstanding condition. With difficulty, we found a small scuff and an equally small dark stain on the velvet. The banner was, at one time, nailed to a backing wall. Little holes left by the nails remain. However, none of this wear and damage is actually noticeable on the large area of the banner and the moiré sheen of the velvet. The tassels are in perfect condition. All the embroidery, the fringe, and the tassels have retained their full original golden luster. Lenin's portrait is also in excellent condition, showing zero wear or damage of any kind.

Unlike myriads of award banners issued by and to civilian organizations, factories, collective farms, higher education institutions etc., it is a rare occurrence to come across a similar military award banner, even if it is "just" Army, Navy or Air Force. To encounter a KGB award banner, in excellent condition at that, is a find of a whole other order of magnitude!
