Brass, enamels; measures 39.9 mm x 30.2 mm. Pin back attachment. The badge is of far better quality that the later issues in aluminum and paint. In excellent condition.

The badge was established in 1958 to award to enlisted men and NCOs who attained the highest level of proficiency in the Air Force. The earliest issues had a screw back attachment. Starting from the late 70s, the badges were mostly made in aluminum.
