Rifle ammunition pouch for the field, dated 1915, a remarkable survivor of the Great War and the Russian Civil War, too.

In olive drab canvas, 7 " x 4 "(closed) or 8 "(open). There are several faint maker stamps on the inside, one of which shows the date 1915. There are also four inventory stamps three of which are almost completely illegible, although one, oval-shaped, is clearly of Soviet era. One rectangular stamp that has clearly legible letters "KAVK" and the date 1924. Lastly, there is an additional stamp in Georgian language on the back of the pouch next to the inventory number 217. The pouch still has its original canvas shoulder strap: it is in two sections: one side measures approximately

The horn button is clearly original to the pouch.

Very good to excellent condition, free of tears or excessive wear. There is modest amount of soiling that adds character, no stains. The strap has curled and now looks like a cord, but would probably flatten out again if very carefully ironed.
