Air Force Engineering Service Officer Badge, 1949 - 1958.
In silver-plated brass and enamel; measures 20.1 mm in height, 98.0 mm in width. Very large and impressive badge. In outstanding, excellent condition. The enamel is perfect. The silver plating is pristine throughout.
This fine quality badge was issued to flight engineers and officers of ground technical support services in the Soviet Air Forces starting from 1949. Unlike the similarly large "non-rated" qualification wings of the Air Force pilots and navigators, it was not abolished during the following year and continued being issued through 1958.
