10th Anniversary of the October Revolution, commemorative badge, 1927 issue.

In brass and "cold" enamel; 39.8 mm tall x 34.2 mm wide. The artwork of this badge is in style highly representative of the era.

The fragile "alcohol based" enamel is mostly intact with only a couple of chips on the star and banner (the enamel is either completely gone or replaced on most other surviving examples of this badge that we have encountered). The raised details of the artwork are well preserved and crisp. The screw post is full length, nearly 10 mm, and comes with scarce original screw plate marked "OSOAVIAKhIM Moscow". The threads are worn but provide enough cohesion for the screw plate to remain on the screw and not slide off when undisturbed.

The Osoaviakhim society was formed in the early 1927; the 10th Anniversary of the Revolution badge was among the very first it awarded over the organization's 21 year long history. Like its counterpart in silver, it was given exclusively for making a substantial donation to the Osoaviakhim coffers - apparently in an effort to jump-start the funding.
