The details of the wreath are perfect. The fragile grey finish along the edge of the shield is fully intact. The original gold plating is pristine on the obverse and has only a few minor blemishes on the reverse; it is exceptionally bright on both sides of the badge. The screw post is full length, approx. 11.5 mm, and includes original screw plate marked "Pobeda Factory, Moscow".

Unlike many other badges of the "combat proficiency" series, post-war versions of the Excellent Combat Engineer badge are far more scarce than WW2 issues. It is especially hard to find a 1950s issue in as superb a condition as this example.
