The Soviet War Veterans Committee was formed in 1956 on
Marshal Zhukov's initiative. Throughout its existence, the
organization issued several awards that were presented
mostly to veterans who were still playing significant role
in Soviet society after the war. The SKVV 30th Anniversary
Medal in particular was awarded rather sparingly.
