Photo ID of the NKGB of Kirgiz Soviet Socialist Republic, #KG-48, issued on 28 December 1943 to State Security Senior Lieutenant Kuzma Saltykov, an NKGB section chief.
Wrapped in fine brown kid leather, with the cover showing the state emblem of Soviet Kirgizia and impressed writing "NKGB of Kirgiz SSR". The photo shows Saltykov wearing an M43 service tunic. The same page shows the ID issue date, is marked "valid through 31 December 1944, and has owner's signature at the bottom.

In very good condition. The leather cover shows mild wear and some wrinkles, but the leather is healthy overall, without significant scuffs. The internal pages are very clean.

This is a very uncommon ID. The Narkomat for State Security was disbanded

This is a very uncommon ID. The Narkomat for State Security was disbanded in 1941 and only re-emerged under the NKGB name in 1943; in 1946, it was re-named MGB (Ministry for State Security).
