Photograph of Stalin in a brass and celluloid brooch, C 1930s.
Measures 41.2 x 30.9 mm. A vignetted Stalin looks dreamily out at the viewer. Pin back still functions but is actually upside down and opens upwards rather than down.
Very fine condition. We have seen very few badges like this in such a good overall condition; while it shows its age, particularly on the reverse, a remarkable thing about it is that the surface of the celluloid center has not cracked or broken apart.
Similar in construction to a white metal Lenin brooch shown in "Avers 8". The survival rate of inexpensive patriotic badges such as this was very small.
