Valery Chkalov, world famous Soviet flier and test pilot, 1983 poster commemorates the 45th anniversary of his death.
19" x 25 3/8". Bold portrait of the pilot and the aircraft in which he flew from Moscow over the North Pole to Vancouver, Washington (USA) - a flight lasting 63 hours.
Excellent condition.
One of the first generation to become Heroes of the Soviet Union in the 1930s, Chkalov died at age 34 while test flying a Polikarpov I-180 plane in 1938.
